LYNN – A judge ordered a city man held without bail who police said pushed his child to the ground, causing the youngster to hit his head on the cement, following an argument over candy.”(The alleged victim) stated that everyone was hanging around outside when he got into an argument with his father because his father had his candy and his father ?always eats all of his stuff,'” Lynn Police Officer Richard Connick wrote in a report.Ricky Nash, 51, of 230 Curwin Circle, was arrested and charged with assault on a family/household member; and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon; at 2:29 a.m. Sunday.He appeared in Lynn District Court on Monday where he pleaded not guilty to the charges.Police reported responding to Curwin Circle at approximately 1:45 a.m. Sunday on a possible domestic and met with the alleged victim, 12, and his mother. The alleged victim told police he and the defendant argued and then the defendant “shoved” him down, causing the child to hit his head on the cement, police said.Police noted no injuries on the alleged victim, and Nash denied ever touching the alleged victim.”He stated that all the people in that area that are accusing him of this are ?junkies’ and they don’t know what they are talking about,” Connick reported.But a witness told police she saw Nash grab the child by the sweatshirt and begin shoving him to the ground, “shaking him violently,” according to a police report.”She stated she saw (the alleged victim’s) head hit the cement stair and heard Nash yelling vulgarities like ?I’m going to (expletive) you up’ before she was able to intervene,” police reported.Police arrested Nash without incident. He appeared in court Monday where Essex Assistant District Attorney Erin Bellavia requested the defendant be held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing. Public defender Donna Cuipylo asked for time to prepare for the hearing, and Judge Cathleen Campbell found probable cause for Nash to be held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Friday.
