LYNN – A judge ordered a homeless city man held without bail Tuesday after a woman told police the defendant beat her with a vodka bottle and then dragged her across a vacant lot by the waterfront.Isaiah Graham, 32, homeless of Lynn, was arrested and charged with assault and battery on a household/family member; assault and battery with a dangerous weapon; and violation of a city knife ordinance; at 10:44 p.m. Monday. He pleaded not guilty to the charges Tuesday in Lynn District Court.Police reported responding to Munroe and Market streets at approximately 10:24 p.m. Sunday and finding the alleged victim, who appeared “distraught” and was “bleeding from the mouth and elbows,” Lynn Police Officer William Stilwell wrote in a report. The alleged victim told police she and Graham, her boyfriend, had been drinking in the abandoned lot by Heritage State Park. An argument ensued after Graham allegedly began flirting with another woman.”Graham then grabbed a 1.75-liter plastic bottle of Caldwell’s vodka, a quarter full, and began to hit (the alleged victim) in the face with the bottle,” police reported the alleged victim said. “Graham then punched (the alleged victim) with a closed fist in the left side of her face.”The alleged victim said she escaped and went to gather her things. But she said Graham came and grabbed her by the hair then dragged her across the open field, police reported. The alleged victim was treated at the scene, and police found Graham in the nearby abandoned lot. Police also reported Graham had a knife in violation of a city ordinance. At his arraignment, Essex Assistant District Attorney Erin Bellavia requested Graham be held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing when the alleged victim could be summonsed to court. Judge Cathleen Campbell ordered the defendant held without bail pending a hearing scheduled for Sept. 4.
