State rep candidates receive endorsements

Crighton receives supportLYNN ? National Association of Government Employees Local 5000 and Mass Retires, an organization representing retired public employees, have endorsed state legislative candidate Brendan Crighton, according to a statement released by Crighton’s campaign Thursday.Local 5000 represents 22,000 employees in more than 60 state agencies and Mass Retires counts 55,000 members, according to the statement.?Our Association’s endorsement of Brendan is not only based on his track record as an elected official supporting public retirees but, more importantly, his extensive experience in state and local matters that affect the quality of life throughout West Lynn neighborhoods and the town of Nahant,” the statement quoted Retirees President Frank Valeri as saying.Crighton in the statement said Local 5000 members “perform critical work that keeps government services running and our citizens healthy.”Crighton counts the Massachusetts Teachers Association, Professional Firefighters of Massachusetts, Lynn Firefighters Local 739 and Nahant Firefighters Local 2509 among his endorsements.He is running in the Sept. 9 Democratic primary to represent West Lynn and Nahant residents living in the 11th Essex District.Teamsters endorse GalloLYNN ? Lynn-based Teamsters Local 42 has endorsed state legislative candidate Charlie Gallo, according to a statement released Thursday by Gallo’s campaign.?In the race for state representative, there is no better advocate for job creation and rebuilding in the middle class than Charlie Gallo,” the statement quoted Local 42 President Bruce Bolduc as saying.Gallo is running in the Sept. 9 Democratic primary to represent West Lynn and Nahant residents in the Massachusetts House. The statement lists previous endorsements for his candidacy from Ironworkers Local 7, Painters and Allied Trades Union District Council 35 and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 2222 and 2321.Local 42 represents private and public sector workers and retirees, including drivers, public school workers and Greater Lynn Senior Services employees.?I am honored to earn the Teamsters’ endorsement,” Gallo stated.
