LYNN – A judge ordered a city man held without bail after a woman told police the defendant strangled her and threw her to the bed following an argument.”(The alleged victim) said it seemed like he realized what he was doing and stopped,” Lynn Police Officer Taylor Haberek wrote in a report.Ricardo Coronado, 30, of 22 Harwood St. #3, was arrested and charged with domestic assault and battery; strangulation or suffocation; witness intimidation; and assault and battery on a family/household member; at 1:52 a.m. Monday.He pleaded not guilty to the charges Tuesday in Lynn District Court.Police reported responding to the Harwood Street apartment at 12:30 a.m. Monday where the alleged victim told officers Coronado had been texting and calling her at work and asking where their son was.The alleged victim said her boyfriend knows the child is with a babysitter every day she works, but Coronado’s texts “increased in aggression” throughout the evening, police reported. When she returned home, the couple allegedly argued and Coronado accused her of cheating.”The argument continued until it escalated to him grabbing her by the neck and he began choking her,” police said the alleged victim reported. “She said it was only for a short period of time and he threw her to the bed.”Coronado allegedly grabbed the phone when the alleged victim tried to call 911, so the woman told police she went downstairs to get her child and use the babysitter’s phone.Police reported the alleged victim had no visible injuries and declined medical help.Police also reported Coronado was cooperative and did not appear drunk when taken into custody. He also handed police the cellphone to give back to his girlfriend, police said.Essex Assistant District Attorney Aimee Conway requested Coronado be held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing when the alleged victim could appear in court. Judge James LaMothe found probable cause for the request and scheduled Coronado to return to court today for a dangerousness hearing.
