Field Hockey: Swampscott rallies for win over Saugus

The Swampscott field hockey team is on a roll, defeating Saugus, 3-1, Thursday at Swampscott for its second win this week.The Sachems took the lead when Sophia Cogliano scored three minutes in, but the Big Blue came right back. Annie Kane tied the game up with Sammy Sinrich and Christine King each adding one to open up some breathing room. Swampscott is 2-0 and Saugus is 0-2.Andover 5, Fenwick 0At Fenwick, the Crusaders (0-1) fell behind 1-0 in the first half, but saw it slip out of reach with a couple of quick Andover goals to start the second half. Jackie Hart and Lauren Hallice played well in the loss.Marblehead 2, Gloucester 1At Gloucester, the Magicians (2-0) rallied from a 1-0 deficit to pull out the win. Gloucester scored with five minutes left in the game to take a 1-0 lead, but Marblehead?s Kendall Casey found the net 30 seconds later to tie things up. The Magicians won the game two minutes later on a goal by Emily Mills (Piper Newell assist). Marblehead outshot Gloucester 11-4, but keeper Cassidy Alla kept the Fishermen from doing much damage.Beverly 1, Peabody 0At Peabody, the Tanners (1-1) hung tough most of the way, but the Panthers scored the winning goal with three minutes left.?We were very strong in the first half,” Peabody coach Pam Grant said, adding that Beverly didn?t have a corner in the first half while Peabody had three.The Panthers stepped up their coverage in the second half and it paid off. Allison Daly and Catherine McGrath split the game in net.
