The Swampscott High girls soccer team made it two in a row with a 2-0 win over Winthrop Friday at Swampscott.The Big Blue (2-0) defeated perennial power Danvers earlier in the week and kept the momentum going. Swampscott bombarded Winthrop goalie Poli Tsiotos with 39 shots, but Tsiotos kept the Vikings in the hunt with some great saves.Jaymie Caponigro scored Swampscot’s first goal with Sarah Hingston adding an insurance tally. Meaghan Hartmann assisted on both. Sam Rizzo (3 saves) picked up the shutout.Marblehead 4, Gloucester 0At Gloucester, Mia Bonjiorno had a productive afternoon for the Magicians (2-0), scoring three goals. Bridget Schouder chipped in with one and Meghan Ryan had three assists. Lauren Unterborn (5 saves) recorded the shutout.Fenwick 3, Wayland 0At Peabody, the Crusaders (1-0) had goals from Emily Charette, Danielle DelTorto and Colleen Corcoran with goalie Merry Harrington picking up the shutout. This was Fenwick’s opening game. The Crusaders are coming off an 11-7-2 season that saw them lose in the second game of the Division 3 North tournament.Peabody 7, English 0At Peabody, the Tanners spread the scoring around with seven different players finding the net – Caroline Colbert, Emily Nelson, Alyssa Shashaty, Chloe Gizzi, Sydney Cooke, Katie Wallace and Brianna Gaynor. Colbert, Shashaty and Molly Tansey all had assists. The Tanners led 4-0 at the half.The Bulldogs, who were without starting goalie Kaitlyn Nadeau due to injury, got strong games from Emma Trahant in the midfield and sophomores Rachael Calnan and Tommi Hill, who split the game in net.English plays Classical today at 1 p.m. in the championship game of the Lynn City Soccer Tournament at Manning Field.Danvers 4, Saugus 1At Saugus, the Falcons led 2-1 at the half and then put the game away with two goals in a five minute span early in the second half. Mikayla Perella accounted for the lone Saugus (0-1-1) goal.Danvers (1-1) had goals from Sara Unczur and Meaghan McKenna in the first half and Allie Zunich and Lydia Runners in the second half. Unczur and Runnels are both freshmen.Salem 7, Revere 0At Revere, senior captain Deema Hijleh had a big game for the Witches, scoring two goals in the first half and one in the second. Nicole Sadoway added a pair and Hannah VanDeStadt and senior captain Sydney Hanford contributed one each. Salem led 5-0 at the half.Salem had strong defensive efforts from Jaclyn Panneton and junior captain Hayley Jellison.Salem coach Fred Day said it was a good first game to build on as the team heads into a matchup with Peabody on Tuesday.
