LYNN – Classical’s Thomas Mackin and Tia Foglietta from St. Mary’s topped the ticket in the boys and girls races, respectively, in the Lynn Invitational Cross Country Meet held Friday at Lynn Woods.View Photo GalleryMackin, a junior, set a brisk pace with a winning time of 17:21 on the 2.86-mile course. The Spartans took the next three spots with Cody Murtagh second (18:39); Mike Cerulli, third (19:16) and Tony Mwangi, fourth (19:54). Classical’s Eric Macorri took fifth and teammate Elias Bakas, sixth (20:46). The Spartans also had strong finishes from Jack Carroll (21:24), Finn Lacey (21:34), Dimetri Finelli (21:44) and Cam Marr (33:52).Tech’s top runners were sophomores Jeffrey Cabrera, who took 12th, and Edgar Ortega, 13th.In the girls race, Foglietta left the pack in the dust, finishing first by over three minutes with a time of 20:20. The senior from Lynn converted from soccer. This is her first year on the cross country team.”She really worked hard this summer,” Finelli said.St. Mary’s also took second, third and fourth place with Sarah Corbett, a junior tri-captain running a 23:20, Elizabeth Weisse (24:03) and Larissa Bogomolov (25:05). Classical took fifth with three St. Mary’s runners, Kimberly Le, Olivia Bromely and Kellie Powers taking the next three spots. English did not participate in the meet.
