Shannon Magner and Briana Silva gave Classical a 2-0 lead heading into the half, but Revere scored early in the second half to cut the lead to one. That?s how things stood until there were just under six minutes left in the game. That?s when the floodgates opened and Jenn Ierardi, Chenysse Hill and Rachel Jordan scored to put the game out of reach.?It was a flat game until we came alive at the end,” Classical coach Justina Alicudo said.Peabody 2, Salem 1At Salem, the Tanners (2-0-0) turned up the heat defensively, holding the Witches to only five shots.?Offensively we had great possession and offensive push; however, we need to finish better,” Peabody coach Dennis Desroches said.Freshman Emily Nelson and captain Caroline Colbert took care of the scoring while Sarah Godschall, Katherine Scacchi, Macayla LaChance and Katrina Silva held down the fort defensively. Chloe Gizzi had a strong overall game. One of the goals came on a penalty kick.Salem?s goal came midway through the second half when Sydney Hanford scooped up a cleared ball 25-30 yards out and scored on a high, lofted shot. Salem goalie Arianna Gaffney had seven saves. Salem is 1-1-0.Marblehead 5, Saugus 1At Saugus, the Magicians (3-0) had goals from Elise Joyce, Olivia Eddy, Carlyn McGrath, Lexi Bostley and Kayelyn Attridge. Mikayla Perella scored for the Sachems with Amanda Poussard getting the assist. Saugus is 0-2-1. Saugus goalie Caitlin Williamson had 10-12 saves. Lauren Unterborn (7 saves) picked up the win.?They (Marblehead) are a very good team. They move the ball around well. They cross the ball very well,” Saugus coach Chris Coviello said.Danvers 3, Winthrop 1At Winthrop, the Falcons (2-1) led 2-0 at the half on goals by Allie Zunick (2 minutes in) and Lydia Runnals (about the 27-minute mark).
