SAUGUS ? The Board of Selectmen tonight, by a 4-1 vote with the majority alleging financial improprieties, placed Town Manager Scott Crabtree on immediate, three-month suspension with pay, and to take preliminary action to remove Crabtree as manager.Crabtree, the former chairman of the Board of the Selectmen, was appointed town manager in April 2012, after former Town Manager Andrew Bisignani retired under a storm of controversy of his own.Selectman Debra Panetta was the lone member of the board to vote against the action against Crabtree.Item reporter Chris Roberson will have the complete story in Tuesday’s edition and on itemlive.com.
