LYNN ? When one thinks of strokes, 10-year-old boys don’t usually come to mind, but that’s true for Shawnda Aimuanwosa.Osazemen Aimuanwosa suffers from mitral valve prolapse and ADHD, and on Jan. 18 he also suffered a stroke. His mother, Shawnda Aimuanwosa, called it the day that changed her life. Reeling from her own health problems, she made the difficult decision to quit her job, but her son’s stay at Massachusetts General Hospital and Spaulding Rehab and his ensuing care, various therapies and a brace for his left leg, plus a cane, have also meant a pile of bills. To help tackle that pile, Shawnda Aimuanwosa launched a GoFundMe site called Osazemen Stroke Fund. She said it’s merely to help her pay for gas, food and medical bills.Over the summer, Osazemen Aimuanwosa has received physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy both at home and as an outpatient at North Shore Children’s Hospital in Salem. And Shawnda Aimuanwosa said everyone expects him to make progress. He is even back in school, albeit with an aid.?I am not sure if an adult could have been brave like my son,” she said. “My son has the greatest smile and his is the bravest.”If you would like to donate to Osazemen Aimuanwosa’s page, you can find it at gofundme.com under medical or search Osazemen Stroke Fund.
