LYNN – A city teen was held on a prior hit-and-run charge and $2,500 bail for new charges after police said the teen injured four people and hit three cars while driving drunk Wednesday night.Nery Martin-Lopez, 19, of 431 Summer St. #2, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor and causing serious injury; reckless operation of a motor vehicle; leaving the scene of property damage, four counts; leaving the scene of personal injury, four counts; operating a motor vehicle without a license in possession; and a marked-lanes violation; at 8:54 p.m. Wednesday.He pleaded not guilty to the charges Thursday morning in Lynn District Court.Martin-Lopez also had a default warrant cleared for charges of leaving the scene of property damage; a marked-lanes violation; and a number plate violation to conceal identification.Police reported responding to the area of 94 Rockaway St. at 8:14 p.m. Wednesday where a crowd surrounded a vehicle inside which some victims appeared trapped and medics were helping another victim exit.The crowd was yelling and pointing at Martin-Lopez, identifying him as the driver who caused the accident, according to a report by Lynn Police Officer Ronald Diaz. Witnesses said Martin-Lopez was driving west on Rockaway Street when he sideswiped a parked car on the wrong side of the street. Martin-Lopez then continued on the wrong side of the street and hit a second vehicle head-on, then hit another parked car on the other side of the street, according to police.Four Lynners were injured.A 21-year-old male and a 14-year-old boy who were in Martin-Lopez’s car were taken to Salem Hospital, with the latter transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) with a serious leg injury, police said. A third male passenger in that car was taken directly to MGH after being partially ejected from the vehicle, police reported. Police said the driver of the car which Martin-Lopez allegedly hit head-on was also treated for injuries.Police reported Martin-Lopez was not treated for any injuries but had slurred speech, smelled of alcohol and was unsteady on his feet. He failed several field-sobriety tests and became belligerent, repeatedly yelling “supplemental” when asked to take a Breathalyzer, police reported.Essex Assistant District Attorney Brendan Kelley requested Martin-Lopez’s bail be revoked on the prior hit-and-run charge and that the judge order $2,500 cash bail for the new charges.Judge Joseph Jennings accepted those requests and scheduled Martin-Lopez to return to court Oct. 20.Police said Thursday evening that the injured all had non-life-threatening injuries.
