LYNN ? After suffering a rainout in August the Raw Art Works’ Good 2 Go Crew was good to go Wednesday for the dedication of a mural it painted at Fraser Field.Navigators General Manager Bill Terlecky thought the wall at the Locust Street entrance was in need of something colorful so he called Raw Art Works. RAW art therapist Bruce Orr then tapped the Good 2 Go Crew to design the artwork.Artist John Plunkett said at the time it would have been easy to go cliche. Instead the group of young artists that includes Dustin Hornblower, 18, Deondre Riverea, 17, Kadeem Dalley and a half dozen others, went old school fun. The result is a sprawling menagerie of imagery that includes a robot tearing up a hotdog stand, flying bird balls and baseball creatures, the Navigators logo, a version of Chomps and a dozen other characters.Orr said the crew spent months planning and designing the mural before sketching it out on the wall and even then parts of it took on a life of its own. Watching it unfold was half the fun, he said.Orr called the result sophisticated because the young artists who worked on it did more than paint simple flat graphics. There are layers of color and thought behind each image. The artist call it cool.Hornblower said in July when they were still painting that he felt they were putting in a good effort and the result proves him right.
