Golf: Bottom of lineup helps Classical win

The Classical High golf team got a boost from the bottom of its lineup in a 43-29 win over Malden at Unicorn Golf Course in Stoneham.Mark Brazell shot a 36 but lost his match, 4-5. The Rams did get wins from Andre Gaudet, Steve Patrie, Brandon Devin, Travis Ryan and Sean Devin.?Pretty much the bottom of the lineup came through in a big way,” Classical coach Jack Morrison said. “They played well.”The Rams are 2-8-1.St. Mary?s 46 1/2, Saugus 25 1/2At Cedar Glen Golf Course, the Spartans (8-1) won in six of the eight spots, led by Shawn MacBurnie at No. 1, 6 1/2-2 1/2; Brendan O?Neill, No. 4, 5 1/2-3 1/2; Nick Amenta, No. 5, 7-2; Max Emmerich, No. 7, 5-4, and Ryan Borders, No. 8, 8-1. St. Mary?s needs one more win to qualify for the state tournament. Nick Dame had the only Saugus win.Saugus 37, Swampscott 35At Cedar Glen Golf Course, the match came down to the final two spots, with the Sachems? Nick Moore winning at No. 7, 5 1/2-3 1/2, to save the day. Saugus? Joe Ghika tied at No. 2; Nick Dame won at No. 4, 5 1/2-3 1/2, and Ryan Virgin tied at No. 5. Saugus is 7-4.The Big Blue (3-7) had wins from E.J. Palleschi, 5-4; Gavin Sullivan, 5 1/2-3 1/2, and Patrick Bartholomew, 5-4.?It was really close most of the match,” Swampscott coach Jason Knowles said. “The first time we faced Saugus, we lost by 12.
