Jenn Ierardi put on a clinic Friday in the Classical High girls soccer team’s 3-2 win over Malden at Malden.The senior captain and striker scored all three goals for the Rams. The first one came in the first half and put Classical up 1-0. The Rams went up 3-1 in the second half before Malden trimmed the deficit to one.”She was playing really, really aggressively,” Classical coach Justina Alicudo said. “Jenn stole the show.”Alicudo said the team has struggled on offense lately.”We’ve been in a scoring slump,” Alicudo said. “We definitely needed the win. VOLLEYBALLSwampscott 3, Revere 1At Swampscott, the Big Blue (4-7) dropped their first match, 23-25, but won the next three, 25-20, 25-11, 25-20. Outside hitter and captain Gina Asipenko had a big game with nine aces and 18 kills. Sophomore setter Leanne nisbet had three aces, a kill and 20 assists and Caroline Phelan, brought up from the junior varsity, hit 90 percent of her serves for eight points.Bishop Fenwick 3, Central Catholic 2At Peabody, the Crusaders took on a very tough Central Catholic team in a match that last nearly 2 1/2 hours. Fenwick won in five sets, 17-25, 25-15, 19-25, 25-19, 15-12. The final set was a war, but the Crusaders had a key weapon in Madison Camelo. The senior captain had nine blocks, including three in that final set. One came on the 13th point and one on the final point. She also finished with 13 kills.Julia Fusco (18 digs, 4 service points) and Sam Mancinelli, 33 assists, also came up big. Fenwick (9-3) is 4-for-4 when it comes to winning five-set matches.FIELD HOCKEYLynnfield 2, N.Reading 0At North Reading, Baily Fanikos scored off a corner by Stefania DeAngelis for a 1-0 Lynnfield lead and Leigh Guerra added an insurance tally with 7:16 left in the game. Lilli Patterson, Alison Lyle and Lauren Guerra also played well on defense and Shannon Furey notched her fifth shutout in net. Lynnfield is 10-0-1 overall, 9-0-1 in the Cape Ann League.
