SWAMPSCOTT – Police have arrested a 17-year-old in connection with a bomb threat that evacuated and closed Swampscott High School on Thursday.Swampscott Police Sgt. Tim Cassidy said a juvenile male student at the school and resident of the town appeared in Lynn Juvenile Court Friday on charges of filing a false claim; making a bomb threat; disturbing a school assembly; disturbing the peace; and violation of a knife ordinance.Cassidy said officers were able to pinpoint the location of the caller – who allegedly called police Thursday and said he was going to blow the school up in 10 minutes – and used voice recognition software and the 911 recording to determine a suspect.”It was good work by (School Resources) Detective Rose Cheever and the schools,” Cassidy said Friday. The suspect was arrested Thursday night without incident after Officers Brendan Reen and Steve Luck noticed the juvenile at the Swampscott Public Library.Because the suspect is a juvenile, the court proceedings are closed to the public, and police are not releasing his name.
