Bobby Caproni scored with three minutes left in the game to lift the Peabody High boys soccer team to a 1-0 win over Swampscott Tuesday at Swampscott. The win was made even sweeter for the Tanners because it not only qualified them for the state tournament, but it was the 200th career win for coach Stan McKeen. McKeen has coached Peabody for 19 years and during that span has qualified for the postseason 15 times.?We had a little celebration after the game,” McKeen said. “It was nice. I?ve been fortunate to have really good kids.”McKeen?s career record is 200-11-52.Despite the loss, Swampscott coach Eric Robinson was happy with the way his team played.?This was far and away the best game we?ve played all year,” Robinson said. “Peabody is the top team in the league and one of the best in the state. We hung with them for 75 minutes. It was just a great game.”Jack Dennehy and Mike Coffey, both center midfielders, played very well for Swampscott (3-8).Danvers 2, Classical 0At Manning Field, the Falcons (5-4) took a 1-0 lead in the first half when the ball went off a Classical defender into the net and added some insurance midway through the second half on a goal by Jackson McPherson (Mitch Gent assist).?This was a big win for us,” Danvers coach Mike Chase said. “We had lost three in a row after starting out 4-1.”Classical falls to 7-4 with a trip to Peabody on tap for Thursday.?Danvers is always a good team. It?s always a challenge when we face them,” Classical coach Rob Upton said, adding that Peter Mafo played well in the midfield and Strati Saranteas on defense.Cam Bornstein recorded the shutout for Salem.Marblehead 4, Salem 3At Marblehead, it was a tale of two halves. Marblehead racked up a seemingly comfortable 4-0 lead by the half on two goals by Will Gaddis and single goals by Jacob Wikar and Chris Brady, but Salem coach Mike Collins “rearranged some of the personnel” and the strategy paid off to the tune of three goals.Simon Barats scored the first Salem goal, Nick Capra the second one on a penalty kick, and Nathan Russell the third. The Witches (4-6) had a couple of chances to tie it down the stretch, but the clock was not their friend.?Marblehead (6-4-1) controlled the game in the first half, Salem controlled the game in the second half,” Marblehead coach Scott Laramie said. “It was a midfield battle. We were lucky to pull it out. It?s on to the next one.”Beverly 7, Saugus 1At Beverly, the Panthers had this one early, taking a 4-1 lead into the half. Leo Feingold had two goals and Peter Coletti, Sean Leahy, Naheul Pittamiglio, Elias Crandell and Brendan Chan added one each. Alesio Kanini (3 saves) picked up the win for the 9-0-1 Panthers. Saugus scored on a penalty kick.Gloucester 2, English 1At Gloucester, the Bulldogs (0-11) cut the deficit to 2-1 on a goal by Ble Ley midway through the second half, but they couldn?t come up with the equalizer. Ley scored on a head ball off a cross from Joshua Osawe.
