The Winthrop football team put itself in the drivers’ seat for its first league title of any kind since its Super Bowl season of 2006 Friday night with a 21-7 victory over host Peabody at Coley Lee Field.Jake Chiudina was the star for the Vikings, hauling in a 60-yard touchdown pass for one score and plunging in from the two for another. Quarterback Dylan Driscoll scored the other one on a one-yard dive.For Peabody, Michael Raymond threw a 22-yard scoring pass to Ugonna Okinawa, which tied the score at 7-7 at the time.Chiudina also kicked all three extra points for the Vikings.The win leaves Winthrop at 5-0 with just two league games left, next Friday against Classical and then against Danvers after that. Peabody falls to 4-1.Peabody only had the ball once in the second haLynnfield 42, Georgetown 0At Lynnfield, the Pioneer made their home debut under the lights on their new turf field a memorable one.Lynnfield put 21 points on the board in the first quarter along, with John Knee returning a punt 45 yards for a touchdown; Jason Rourke running it in from one yard out and Cam Rondeau reeling in a 10-yard pass from quarterback Dan Sullivan. Dan Bronshvayg kicked all three extra points.The Pioneer kept the heat on in the second quarter with Knee catching an 11-yard touchdown pass from Sullivan and Kevin Lee taking one in from 20 yards out. The Pioneers scored their final touchdown on an 80-yard run. Bronshvayg kicked the extra points on the last three touchdowns as well.Lynnfield is 5-0 overall, 3-0 in the Cape Ann League.Revere 28, Salem 6At Bertram Field, the Patriots (2-3) jumped out to a 21-0 lead at the half with Caleb Silva scoring on an 8-yard run and Danny Murphy on a 20-yard run in the first quarter and Silva scoring again in the second quarter on a 3-yard run (capping a 70-yard drive). Murphy scored the final touchdown in the fourth quarter on a five-yard run. Silva finished with 150 yards rushing on 20 carries and he had a 40-yard reception. Murphy also finished with two touchdowns, 85 yards rushing and 60 passing. He also had an interception, as did Pho Tran.The Witches struggled offensively with three turnovers (2 interceptions and a fumble) contributing to the problem. Salem (0-5) had a couple of 50-plus yard drives. Taron Wigall scored Salem’s lone touchdown on an 85-yard run. Joe Byors, a captain, offensive tackle and defensive end played a solid game with five solo tackles and an assist.Marblehead 48, Beverly 22At Marblehead, the Magicians (6-0) outgunned the Panthers (2-3) with Brooks Tyrrell rushing for three touchdowns and catching a pass for another. He rushed for over 200 yards. Tyrrell’s touchdowns came on runs of 53 yards, 77 yards and seven yards. The touchdown receptions was for 94-yards. It put Marblehead up 6-0. Spencer Craig had a four-yard touchdown run and Garret Keough a 12-yard run. Keough also kicked seven extra points.Beverly’s Chris Vallette had to be taken off the field with an ankle injury.
