Roundup: Lynn Tech harriers win their third meet

The Tech cross country team racked up another win, defeating Northeast Regional, 26-30, at Lynn Woods.The Tigers, 3-1, are off to their best start in the tenure of coach John Hogan. Northeast took the first two spots, but Tech took the three through six spots beginning with Edgar Ortega (18:20). Jayden Lowe (19:03), Nick Westin (19:10), and Jefry Cabrera (19:47) followed with Lionel Kou in eighth (20:07) and Asa Anderson, 10th (20:59).FIELD HOCKEYWayland 4, Fenwick 1At Fenwick, the Crusaders (2-7-4) played well in the first half, coach Marybeth Mahoney said, but came out flat in the second. Fenwick’s only goal came from Michaela Barton, with an assist from Jackie Hart.Marblehead 1, Peabody 0At Marblehead, Hannah Fobert got the game’s only goal with three minutes to go, with an assist from Kendal Casey. The Magicians raised their record to 11-1-2.”We pretty much controlled the game,” said Marblehead coach Linda Collins, “but we couldn’t put the ball in the net. Their defense and goalie stood extremely tall. We kept pushing and pushing until we finally put it in.”Peabody (4-4-3) had strong play by sweeper Caroline O’Neill and midfielder Cayli Armstrong.Marblehead is at Revere Tuesday.VOLLEYBALLLynnfield 3, Bishop Fenwick 0At Lynnfield, the Pioneers (11-1) won 25-13, 25-14, 24-14. Emma Mancini was a force for Lynnfield with 18 kills and 12 digs. Jessica Dwyer had 19 digs and Marykate Deighan had seven kills and six digs.Fenwick (10-5) had solid play from outside hitter Lindsay Donahue and defender Sam Lipka.KIPP 3, Comm. Charter 0At KIPP, the scores were 25-8, 25-9 and 25-8. Pleilerkay Gaye was player of the game thanks to her newly-learned jump serve. Other strong servers were Briana Collins-Lee and Maria Kamba. Shi Bohannon had a strong game at setter, as did Roanne Elsadig.
