SWAMPSCOTT ? Swampscott Police announced they are now taking applications for stickers to exempt vehicles from the town’s winter parking ban.The winter parking ban requires that motor vehicles be parked off of the roadways between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. from Dec. 1 (the evening of Nov. 30) to March 30, 2015. Only vehicles with a valid Winter Parking sticker may be parked on the streets during these times.Vehicles in violation of the winter parking ban may be issued a ticket for $20.Police reminded residents, however, that the sticker does not allow vehicles to be left in the street when snow is forecast or during a snow event.Any vehicle parked on the street when there is forecasted snowfall, even those vehicles with a sticker, may be issued a $25 ticket. Also, any vehicle parked on the street during a snow emergency and/or which is impeding snow removal may be issued a $50 ticket, police said.Applications and guidelines for the Winter Parking Stickers are available at the Swampscott Police Department at 531 Humphrey St. and online at www.swampscottpolice.com. There is a $30 non-refundable fee per motor vehicle for the application payable by check or money order to the Town of Swampscott. A copy of the registration for each vehicle at a residence must be submitted with the application.
