The Lynn Classical soccer team finally got something to show for a great effort against one of the top teams in the Northeastern Conference on Wednesday night at Manning Field.The Rams, who had played NEC North leaders Peabody right to the wire in a one-goal loss Monday, trailed 1-0 in the first half before Peter Mafo picked up the equalizer off an Andreas Dominovic pass to earn Classical a 1-1 draw with second place Beverly.”I am very happy to get a point out of this game,” Classical coach Rob Upton said. “We’ve been playing well against some tough teams and haven’t gotten the results. To get a point against a very good Beverly team will definitely help us in the long run.”The Rams are now 7-6-1 and need only three points out of their final four games to earn a spot in the state tournament.Shawsheen 2, Tech 1At Manning Field, the Tigers (2-10-3) fell into a 2-0 hole early on, but they came to life toward the end of the game with Lennarth Torres scoring. The Tigers play Minuteman on Tuesday.St. John’s 4, Xaverian 0At Danvers, the Eagles (12-0-3, 5-0-2 Catholic Conference) can grab at least a share of the Catholic Conference title with a win over Catholic Memorial Saturday. St. John’s is battling it out with B.C. High for the top spot.Against Xaverian, Paul Maguzzi had two goals and an assist; Pat Foley, a goal and an assist, and Aidan Robinson, a goal. Zach Rowell picked up his and the team’s fourth consecutive shutout. Victor Karalolos at striker and Vlad Blyakhman in the midfield also played well.Peabody 5, English 0At Peabody, the Tanners (12-1-1, 12-0-1 Northeastern Conference) enjoyed a three-goal afternoon by Ben Manoogian with single goals from Bobby Caproni and Connor Wolff.Joao Correia assisted on Manoogian’s two second-half goals. Kevin Lebel and Fagner Coelho split the game in net.Revere 1, Salem 1At Revere, the injury-riddled Patriots (7-3-3) salvaged a tie when Matt Dias scored with 15 minutes left in the game. Revere plays Classical on Friday.Salem’s (6-7-1) goal came from Gabriel Andreotolla in the first half.Marblehead 1,Gloucester 0At Piper Field in Marblehead, the Magicians (7-6-1) dominated the game most of the way but needed a penalty kick from Chris Brady with seven minutes remaining to get the win. Jamie Martin and Chris Colcord turned in stand out games on defense.
