The Tech cross country team lost a heartbreaker to Presentation of Mary Academy, 27-28, Wednesday in Methuen.Freshman Jayden Lowe finished second overall with an 18:51 after being edged out at the tape for first place. Edgar Ortega was fourth (20:20) for the Tigers with Jefry Cabrera, sixth (20:43); Nick Westin, seventh (21:12) and Liono Ku, eighth (22:37). Tech is 3-2.GIRLS SOCCERBeverly 4, Classical 0At Beverly, the Rams (4-9-3) got a solid game up front from Jen Ierardi but struggled to get anything consistent going offensively against the Panthers.Swampscott 2, Winthrop 1At Miller Field in Winthrop, the Big Blue (11-3-1) offense came in the form of Megan Hartmann, who scored once in each half to push the NEC South leaders to the win.Salem 4, Revere 0At Bertram Field, the Witches qualified for the state tournament with the win. Amanda Mullin put Salem up 1-0 three minutes in with the assist from Hannah Van De Stadt. Van De Stadt made it 2-0 on an unassisted corner kick at the 31-minute mark.Deema Hijleh and Sydney Rocheville scored in the second half to put the game out of reach.Salem (9-4-1, 8-4-1 NEC) plays Peabody Friday with a share of the NEC North title at stake. Arianna Gaffney notched her fifth shutout, fourth in a row.FIELD HOCKEYFenwick 1, Manchester-Essex 1At Hyland Field in Manchester, Rachel Fisher was set up by Lauren Coccaluto with five minutes left in the first half to give the 2-8-5 Crusaders a 1-0 lead at the break.
