Volleyball: Classical’s stellar season continutes

The Lynn Classical volleyball team continued its stellar season Wednesday as it swept past Beverly, 3-0, to move to 11-4.Classical cruised to a 25-15 win in the opening game, led by five consecutive service points from Meredith MacDonald that helped them pull away. The next two games would be much tighter as the Rams had to hang on for 25-20 victories in both.Cassidy McGann gave Classical the boost it needed with three straight service points, five in all, to close out the set.Soneta Srey and Ivy Martin were big at the net for the Rams in the middle game. The third game also went to the wire as Lindsey Tobin’s four straight service points midway through gave Classical a lead it never relinquished.Martin had three kills in the final set to help clinch the victory while Cassie D’Agostino and Kayla Arsenault also were immense at the net to close things out.Peabody 3, English 0At English, the Tanners (13-1, 12-0 NEC North) won 25-5, 25-15, 25-9. Courtney Bua, Dana Rice and Emily Diezemann had four kills each to lead Peabody. Danielle Sullivan and Melissa Gray each had 11 service points in a row.English had strong play from seniors Mariani German, Islania Acosta, Sophie Aguirre and captain Sabrina Uribe. The Bulldogs are 0-12.Williams 3, St. Mary’s 0At Braintree, the Spartans (7-8) came up short as they dropped 25-21, 25-18 and 26-24 sets to the Bishops. Dakota McMahon and Molly Galeros combined for 18 service points for St. Mary’s.Arl. Cath. 3, Fenwick 1At Arlington, the Cougars avenged a lot to Fenwick earlier in the season, winning 25-22, 24-26, 25-19, 25-20.Madison Camelo played well in the loss for the Crusaders (11-6) with nine kills and 14 blocks. Lindsay Donahue, Sam Lipka, Julia Fusco and Olivia Petras supplied strong defense.
