Roundup: Lynnfield girls soccer clinches CAL/Small title

The Lynnfield High boys soccer team clinched the Cape Ann League Small championship Monday with a 3-0 win over Rockport at Rockport.
The Pioneers last won the title in 2011, but at that point the league was split into three small divisions.This is the first time they?ve won it with six teams since 2006.
?It feels great,” Lynnfield coach Brent Munroe said. “We came a long way back. We only won three games last year with basically the same kids. We?ve played really well all-year long.?
The game was scoreless at the half, but Kuba Jablonka changed things in a hurry by scoring two goals in the first six minutes of the second half. Thomas Anastasi added the third goal.
Munroe said Kablonka is having a fantastic year with 17 goals, but the midfield and defense did a great job all game getting the ball where it need to be.
Lynnfield is 9-2-5, 9-2-4 Cape Ann League. Nick Colucci and Andrew Moorman split the game in net.
VOLLEYBALL
Bishop Fenwick 3, Archbishop Williams 1
At Bishop Fenwick, the Crusaders (12-6) won 25-18, 22-25, 25-9, 25-11. Madison Camelo had nine kills and six blocks and her sister, Molly Camelo, had five kills and five blocks. Sam Lipka had six digs and three aces. The Crusaders finish the regular season with matches against Danvers and Mystic Valley.
Austin Prep 3, St. Mary?s 1
At Lynn, the Spartans (7-10) need to win their final three matches to qualify for the state tournament. The Cougars won 25-22, 25-16, 13-25, 25-13 despite strong play from St. Mary?s senior Molly Doyle, who had 12 service points, six aces and five kills. Senior Julie Shea had an excellent offensive game. The Spartans play Cardinal Spellman Wednesday and then wrap up the regular season with Lynn City Tournament.
Marblehead 3, Salem 1
At Marblehead, the Magicians dropped the opening set (19-25) before prevailing in the next three by finals of 25-10, 28-26 and 25-13. Jenny Norcross led the way with 8 kills for Marblehead (14-3, 12-1), whichalso got big games from Hannah Cohen (11 digs) and Emily Messinger (33 assists).
FIELD HOCKEY
Peabody 5, Salem 0
At Salem, Sydney Sullivan scored twice while sophomore Caroline O?Neill tallied her first career varsity goal in the Tanners? victory. Haley McCarren and Evie Anderle added goals for the hosts ,who got four saves combined from Alison Daly and Catherine McGrath in the shutout.
Peabody (6-7-5) hosts Beverly on Wednesday?s ?Senior Night? (6:30).
Beverly 0, Swampscott 0
At Swampscott, Big Blue junior goaltender Katie Papele made 16 saves to help the hosts salvage a point against the Panthers. Swampscott (10-3-4) plays Marblehead on Thursday.
Chelmsford 3, Fenwick 0
At Chelmsford, the Crusaders couldn?t create any support for goaltender Taylor Farrin, who finished with 17 saves in the loss. Fenwick (2-11-5) hosts Westford on Thursday (3:45).
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Classical 19, Everett 39
In Medford, at the Sheepfold, Thomas Mackin came in first with a time of 16:00 for the Rams (5-4). Eric Macorri was second, Eli Bakas came in third, and Kevin Chasse took fifth.
Juniors Mehdi Bakouch, Craig Mordaunt, and Tyler Rabideau all had solid showings.
GIRLS CROSS COUONTRY
Everett 27, Classical 28
At Medford, Laurie Rodriguez (first) and Carolina Mora Cubero (fifth) were the first to cross the line for the Rams. Shea Dunnigan and Jordan Corbishley both worked hard to get the girls (0-8) as close to a win as they have been this season.
