October 23, 2014 by [email protected]

LYNN – A judge ordered a man held pending trial for the August murder of a Grant Street man.Rashad Shepherd, 25, of 9 McKinley Terrace #2, Lynn, was arrested on a straight warrant for murder, in connection with the death of Wilner Parisse, 32.Shepherd pleaded not guilty to the charge at his arraignment in Lynn District Court Wednesday.Police responded at 1:47 a.m. Aug. 16 to Parisse’s home at 45 Grant St. #2 and found Parisse with a fatal gunshot wound to the torso.Attorneys did not discuss the details of the case in open court Wednesday. Defense attorney John Apruzzese and Essex Assistant District Attorney Maria Markos agreed that Shepherd be held without bail pending trial. The arrest also violated Shepherd’s probation from a Salem Superior Court case in which he pleaded guilty on Nov. 1, 2011, to possession of a loaded, sawed-off shotgun, according to a spokesperson for Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett. On the date the warrant was issued, a judge allowed a motion to impound the arrest warrant affidavit, the application for an arrest warrant and the police report in connection with the alleged incident, according to court documents.Judge Ellen Flatley Wednesday ordered Shepherd held without bail without prejudice – meaning bail can be argued again at a later date.Shepherd is scheduled to return to court Dec. 3.Apruzzese and members of Shepherd’s family declined to comment outside the courtroom.
