Those were the first points we have given up so it was great to see the kids rebound like they did.”David Brown gave the Bulldogs a lead in the final seconds of the opening period with a 35-yard touchdown run.The momentum swung in the opposite direction from that point on however, with West Lynn turning to its exciting backfield tandem of Taj Porter and Victor Mafo who alternated impressive runs throughout the second quarter.With 2:51 remaining in the half, Jeffery Hill Jr. scored on a quarterback keeper from the goal line, set up by three Porter carries for 23 yards.West Lynn grabbed the lead for good just 1:30 into the second half when Mafo broke up the middle for a 59-yard touchdown run. A successful conversion (worth one point) made it 13-7.Any thoughts of an East Lynn comeback were diminished following an interception by Hill Jr. who scored from seven yards out shortly after. Mafo added a 5-yard touchdown with 2:56 remaining.”We came into the game looking eat up the clock in the first and third quarters,” said Bulldogs coach Peter Dow. “We succeeded early but that’s a team that hadn’t allowed a single point this season. Eventually they figured things out.”In Sunday’s opening Pop Warner game, East Lynn hung on for a 12-6 victory over West Lynn in the Tiny Mite Division Final. Eli Benzan ran for touchdowns of 80 and 34 yards before Miguel Valdez scored from 65 yards out to break the shutout.Mighty MiteSaugus 26, E. Lynn 0Saugus, one of two out-of-city entrants, scored a 26-0 victory over East Lynn in a Mighty Mite Final.Nathan Berry and Kameron Young ran for two scores apiece, the latter on rushes of 25 and 50 yards respectively.Mighty MiteE.
