The MIAA field hockey tournament gets underway this week with three local teams battling it out in Division 2 North.Watertown is the top seed with an 18-0-0 record, but Lynnfield is in the No. 2 at 15-1-2 and Marblehead (13-4-2) is fourth. Swampscott, at No. 7, checks in at 10-4-4.The Pioneers have had an exceptional season led by Bailey Fanikos, who will be playing Division 1 field hockey at the University of Virginia next year. Lynnfield has a first-round bye and will play the winner of Swampscott vs. Wayland Friday at 2:30 p.m. the new Lynnfield High field.Swampscott, under first-year coach Jamie Spano, plays a home game Wednesday (2:30) against Wayland. Marblehead, under coach Linda Collins, plays Tewksbury Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Christopher Piper Field..In Division 1 North, Danvers, the No. 7 seed, will be home Thursday against Belmont at 2:30 p.m. The Falcons finished 15-5-0. Fellow Northeastern Conference team Beverly is at Chelmsford Thursday at 6 p.m. The Panthers (10-5-4) are the No. 13 seed.
