Middle School runners get their day in the sun

GLOUCESTER — The Northeastern Conference Middle School Cross Country Championships were held Monday at Stage Fort Park..Julia Moceri of Gloucester won the girls race in 9:33. In the team competition, Higgins Middle School in Peabody finished first with 55 points. The team included Olivia Griffin, Lilly Brennan, Alexandra Barrett, Cassia Picardy, Emily MacDonald, Victoria Lombardi and Erin Silva.Briscoe Middle School in Beverly took second with 61 points and Marblehead Middle School took third with 63 points with the team of Alix Livermore, Tyler Lubeck, Olivia Cleary, Mariana Sostin, Maeve Sherwood, Kristy Twaalfhoven and Gaia Martinez.In the boys competition, Billy Beauregard of Salem took first (9:08) and J. Murphy Bachner of Swampscott took second (9:23).In the team competition, Collins Middle School in Salem took first with 65 points, Briscoe Middle School in Beverly took second with 69 points and Marblehead Middle School finished third with 75 points. Marblehead’s team included Max Frey, Harry DiBartolo, Grant Adam, Hayden Wikar, Ryan Hamilton, Cole Riskin and Adian Burke.
