The Lynn Tech cross country team is enjoying a resurgence of sorts this fall with a strong performance in the Commonwealth Athletic Conference meet held over the weekend at Greater Lowell in Tyngsborough the Tigers’ latest success story.Tech finished second in the meet behind winner Mystic Valley Charter School. Mystic Valley finished with 34 points, followed by the Tigers (72); Presentation of Mary (82); Minuteman (89); Essex Tech (110) and Northeast Regional (121 points).Jayden Lowe was coolest cat for the Tigers, taking fifth place overall with a time of 19:32 on the 3.1-mile course. Edgar Ortiz finished 10th (20:12); Nick Westin, 13th (20:52); Jefry Cabrare 20th (22:21); Liono Kou, 24th (22:52); and Asa Anderson, 26th (22:55).”This was Tech’s best finish at the CAC in the last 15 years,” coach John Hogan said. “We beat a team (PMA) that beat us twice this year.”The Tigers haven’t participated in the state Vocational Meet as a rule, but this year Hogan is bringing the team. The meet is next Monday at Wrentham State Park.”It’s exciting,” Hogan said. “We only have 10 boys, but they all work really well together. They’ve gelled as a group.”The good new for Hogan, and the program, is that the team is young. The top runner, Lowe, is a freshman and Ortiz is only a sophomore. Last year, Ortiz finished last at the CAC meet and this year he took 10th.
