The Peabody High volleyball team made an early exit from the Division 1 North tournament with a 3-1 loss to Malden at Peabody.The Tanners, who were the No. 2 seed, won the first set 25-19, but the next three were a struggle with Malden, the No. 15 seed, winning 25-20, 25-23 and 26-24.”Sometimes one of two girls are off. Tim Cothern of Swampscott and Chris Francoeur each shot a 37 and Mark Turner a 38. St. John’s Prep won the Catholic Conference and finished second in the Division 1 state tournament.GIRLS SOCCERWinthrop 3, Saugus 1At Saugus, the Sachems’ lone goal was by Mikayla Perella, who tied the game at 1-1 in the first half. Winthrop scored one more before halftime and then put the game away with a goal 15 minutes into the second half. It was Senior Night for the Sachems, who bid goodbye to Ana Andrade, Abigail Murphy, Kathryn White, Danielle Strangie, Brianna Melendez, Mikayla Perella, Amanda Poussard, Gabriella Alba and Caitlin Williamson.
