LYNN – A man was arrested and charged with drunk driving early Thursday morning after police said he drove a box truck into multiple parked cars on Childs Street.”Officers responded to the scene and observed a path of destruction along the roadway,” Lt. Rick Donnelly said Thursday morning.Stephen Gaudet, 37, of Childs Street, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor; operating under the influence of drugs; resisting arrest; and refusing to identify himself to officers. He pleaded not guilty to the charges Thursday in Lynn District Court.Gaudet was driving a box truck when he plowed into multiple parked cars on the street at approximately 1:43 a.m. Thursday, Donnelly said. All the cars were unoccupied, and Gaudet had some minor injuries that did not require medical attention, police reported.Seven cars had to be towed from the scene, Donnelly said.Prosecutors requested Gaudet be released on conditions that he undergo a substance-abuse evaluation and follow any treatment deemed necessary, remain drug- and alcohol-free and be subject to random screens, and not drive without a valid Massachusetts license, according to Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett’s office.Judge Catherine Byrne accepted the recommendation and scheduled Gaudet to return to court Dec. 19.
