LYNN – A miscommunication here, a missed tackle there, and a general lack of offense conspired to send Lynn Tech to a 26-0 loss against Marian/Keefe Tech Saturday morning at blustery Manning Field. The Tigers (3-7) trailed, 6-0, heading into the fourth quarter before the co-op team from Framingham put three touchdowns on the board in the final seven minutes. Marian/Keefe Tech, of the Catholic Central Small, improved to 6-4.?I expected a little bit more from our guys. Offensively we saw some opportunities with their defense but didn?t take advantage. Their offense was pretty basic but we just missed tackles. The big back (Damari Yarrell) ran hard but I?m really frustrated by all the missed tackles,” said Tech coach James Runner.Yarrell (17 carries, 123 yards, two TDs) did most of his damage in the fourth quarter, including a window-dressing five-yard score with 1:01 to play when the victory formation would have sufficed. That didn?t sit well with Runner.?I spoke to their coach about it after the game and I will remember that play. There?s a right way to do things,” he said.Tech got a big effort on offense from sophomore Natori Gomes, whose three receptions for 57 yards represented the bulk of the Tigers? 76 net offensive yards. Sophomore Adonias Ramirez anchored a pretty stout defensive effort with two fumble recoveries and two tackles for loss.Junior linebacker Devin Phean and junior defensive back Justin Lewis also played well. MKT drove 58 yards off the opening kickoff for the only score of the first three quarters. Josh O?Connell (11 yards) and Robert Iannarilli (13 yards) produced chunk plays and the drive was pushed along by a personal foul against Tech that resulted in an MKT first down at the 11.Three plays later quarterback Andrew Sharkey flipped a three-yard scoring pass to Iannarilli for a 6-0 lead that stood for the next 30-plus minutes.Tech didn?t cross midfield in the first half but began the second at its 48 following a weaving 27-yard kickoff return from freshman Keoni Gaskins. The Tigers probed to the MKT 15 thanks to the hard running of freshman Steffan Gravely and a 15-yard pass from quarterback Rafy Lora to Gomes. However, an eight-yard sack of Lora knocked the drive off kilter and Tech turned it over on downs at the 19.MKT countered with an 81-yard scoring drive on which Yarrell ripped off runs of 28 and 29 yards and capped from 12 yards for a 12-0 lead with 6:18 to play. The visitors recovered Gomes? fumble on the ensuing kickoff and O?Connell cashed in from the eight two plays later. Sharkey?s conversion pass to Marshall Esmay made it 20-0 with 5:35 left.Yarrell finished the scoring from five yards out with 1:01 to play.Tech concludes its season against St. Mary?s at Manning on Thanksgiving Eve.
