The Classical football team had no answers Saturday for Newton South quarterback Austin Burton.Burton went over the 3,000-yard mark and South handed the Rams a 34-22 loss as well.Burton also threw for five touchdowns., giving him 36 for the year.?We haven?t seen many quarterbacks like (Burton). They just made a couple more plays at the end than we did.”Classical got a touchdown pass from Matt Lauria to Devin Crayton along with a touchdown run from Chandler Laguerre and a fumble recovery score by Micah Dublin.Marblehead 28, Beverly 14At Hurd Stadium in Beverly, the two NEC North rivals met for the second time this season as the Magicians (9-1) got three touchdown runs from quarterback Spencer Craig to pull away from the pesky Panthers (4-6) in the second half.Marblehead only led 7-6 at the half thanks to self-inflicted wounds but they woke up in the third quarter as Craig and Brooks Tyrrell scored touchdowns to open up a two score lead. Beverly clawed back to 20-14 after three on a touchdown pass from Brian Flaherty to Christian Etchevarria but Craig?s one-yard keeper in the fourth quarter put the game out of reach.It was Marblehead?s first win in seven seasons in Beverly.Triton 55, Swampscott 27At Bishop Fenwick?s Donaldson Field in Peabody, it was not a good day to be wearing Swampscott colors as the Big Blue were their own worst enemy in the first half, committing four turnovers as Triton blasted out to a 34-12 lead at the break.Quarterback Devin Conroy was one of the few bright spots for Swampscott as he rushed for two touchdowns and threw a third. Triton quarterback Justin Cashman was the star as he threw four touchdowns and ran for two others.Saugus 33,Hamilton-Wenham 7At Stackpole Field in Saugus, the Sachems (6-4) got back into the win column in a huge way thanks to a 21-point second quarter barrage. Quarterback Justin Winn threw two touchdown passes and ran for a third in the second quarter.Saugus took an early lead on Dan Cacciola?s 41-yard touchdown run.Winn then hit him for a touchdown and threw another to Chris Beliveau before scoring on a 10 yard keeper in late in the first half.Central Catholic 45,Peabody 9At Lawrence Memorial Stadium, the Raiders (8-2) bounced back from a Division 1 North semifinal loss to St. John?s Prep by ripping the game open with 25 unanswered points in the third quarter to give coach Chuck Adamopoulos a win over the team that his late father, Arthur, led to prominence.Central kept Peabody?s Doug Santos out of the end zone for the first time this season while quarterback Mike Milano threw three touchdown passes to help down the 7-3 Tanners.
