Police identify victim in fatal Lynn shooting

LYNN – Police identified the murder victim in a Saturday morning shooting as authorities continue looking for the suspect.Omar Ortiz-Lopez, 35, of 135 Ocean St. #27, was fatally shot outside 80 Sagamore St. early Saturday morning, according to a press release from Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett’s office.Police identified the suspect in the shooting as Nelson Rodriguez, 35, of Lowell, who is also known as Abismael Xxxgerena, 31, of Lawrence. Police are asking that anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts contact Lynn Police at 781-595-2000. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous.Ortiz-Lopez is the third murder victim this year in Lynn.Hery Aquino, 29, was fatally shot outside the Curwin Circle housing project on Jan. 12. Police have charged Jacquan McKenzie, of Lynn, with murder in connection with the incident. McKenzie is scheduled to return to Salem Superior Court for a pretrial hearing on Dec. 4.Wilner Parisse, 32, was killed at his Grant Street home on Aug. 16. Police have arrested and charged Rashad Shepherd of Lynn with murder in connection with Parisse’s death. A second suspect, Terrence Tyler, of Boston, was also arrested in Florida and authorities are waiting for Tyler to return to Massachusetts to face charges, according to a spokesperson for Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett.Authorities have also dropped charges against three others originally charged with murder in two fatal incidents this year.Jose Jaime-Mina, 46, of Lynn, was fatally stabbed at a Fayette Court home March 4. Police arrested Shane Dennis, of Lynn, but a grand jury did not return an indictment in the case.Two teens were charged with felony murder in the death of Amoy Blake, 18, who was shot April 16 when he and the teens allegedly tried to rob a man at gunpoint. The murder charges were dismissed in June but firearms and armed robbery charges against the teens were pursued.
