SAUGUS – The Saugus Youth & Recreation Commission was recently granted permission by the town to have a new, first-class softball field built at the Belmonte Middle School. The field will be located to the left of the school and will be created and maintained at no cost to the town. The field will be home to Saugus Little League Softball, teaching hundreds of Saugus girls age 4-16 the game of softball. This new field will provide a greater opportunity to play softball in Saugus and will help to grow the program. Some of the financing for the project has already been pledged, but more is needed. Individuals and businesses who would like to donate are asked to make checks payable to Saugus Softball Little League and send them to: Saugus Softball, P.O. Box 903, Saugus, MA 01906.”Saugus is sorely in need of a first-class softball field,” said Saugus Youth & Recreation Commission member Glen Davis. “We think this is a golden opportunity to create a good thing for the youth of Saugus. If the necessary funds are raised, we can proceed to plan out and start construction of this project so that the field can be played on for the 2015 season.”
