Woman dies after being hit by car in Lynn

LYNN – A 49-year-old woman hit by a car on Market Street Monday night has died, Lynn Police said Tuesday.Lynn Police responded at 10:24 p.m. Monday to the area of 112 Market St. for an accident involving a pedestrian, according to Lynn Police Lt. Rick Donnelly. Police said it appears a person was driving on Market Street heading toward the Lynnway when the car struck the woman crossing Market Street near Andrew Street.Donnelly said officers arrived and found a woman with serious head injuries lying in the roadway. Emergency workers took the woman to North Shore Community College, where she was flown to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.She died Tuesday morning, authorities said.Donnelly said the driver did not appear impaired and cooperated with investigators. At this time, no one has been cited in the accident, which remains under investigation, Donnelly said.Authorities did not release the identity of the deceased pending family notification.
