Santos, Craig NEC co-players of the year

Peabody junior running back Doug Santos and Marblehead senior quarterback Spencer Craig were named co-players of the year and Winthrop’s Sean Driscoll was chosen coach of the year as the Northeastern Conference announced its football all-star team on Monday.Santos, who became the first back in Peabody history to rush for over 2,000 yards and score 30-plus touchdowns, helped lead the Tanners to an 8-3 record under second-year coach Mark Bettencourt.Craig put up nearly 2,000 yards passing in his first season as a starting quarterback while also being a standout on defense as the Magicians finished 11-1 and won the NEC North title.Driscoll guided Winthrop to an 11-1 record, a runner-up finish to Lynnfield in the Division 4 North playoffs and the NEC South title.Salem received the team sportsmanship award.Joining Craig as all-conference quarterbacks are Lucas Harris of Lynn English and Dylan Driscoll (Winthrop).Lynn Classical’s Micah Dublin joined Santos as all-conference running back along with Brooks Tyrrell (Marblehead) and Kaleb Silva (Revere).The offensive line consists of Trey Burris (Classical), Mike Heafy and Ethan Mercedes (Peabody), Drew Salvo (Danvers) and Jeff Collignon (Winthrop).The defensive line includes Devin Crayton (Classical), Mark Rittiboon (Swampscott), Brian Graf (Marblehead) and Sean Gillis (Winthrop).The linebackers are John Salvi-Souza (Gloucester), Frank Falco (Peabody), Joe O’Donnell, (Danvers) and Jimmy Kastrinakis (Beverly).The defensive backs are Zach Deeb (Winthrop), Richie Martino (Danvers), Henry Hernandez (Peabody) and Stevie Collins (English).The rest of the NEC North all-star selections are Daekwon Shepard of Lynn English, Tom Gabel, Dan Marino and Derek Dumais (Marblehead), Jordan James and Mike Faia (Swampscott), Anthony Nolasco and Ryan Garrity (Beverly), Terrance Lane and Alex Enes (Gloucester).The NEC South all-stars are Renzo Pappaterra and Larsen Jacinthe (Classical),Jake Chuidina, Alex Anzuoni and Chris Beaudry (Winthrop), Mike Raymond, Emilio Cantone (Peabody), Matt Andreas and Nick Andreas (Danvers), Dan Murphy (Revere) and Joey Byors (Salem).All the players are seniors except Santos, Collignon,’Graf, Shephard, Murphy and Pappaterra, who are juniors, and Andreas, who is a sophomore.
