Tierney thanked his longtime supporters, who made sure he knew how much they appreciate all he has done for the 6th District in his 18 years in Washington. A routine physical in September led to the diagnosis of the blocked arteries and surgery was scheduled, but the stroke resulted in accelerating the process. The two surgeries were performed 18 days apart – instead of the customary six weeks – and Dill has been home recovering for the last few months. He plans to return to work Jan. 5, which is great news.Twins on way for St. Mary’s athletic directorThe St. Mary’s athletic department is set to expand by two when AD Jeff Newhall and wife Chrissy welcome twins in mid-January.
