Lynn Tech girls? basketball team ran into a tough test in its season opener on Friday evening against St. Clements, which claimed a 50-17 victory that actually wasn?t as bad as the final score would indicate.
?Unfortunately, the final score didn?t quite show the level of improvement I saw from last season,” said Tech coach KaitlynWechsler, whose team trailed 30-15 entering the final period.
?We were right in it for three quarters. We pride ourselves on our defense and to hold a team with the talent St. Clement?s possesses to 30 points over that span of time is something of an accomplishment.”
Katie Monestime scored a game-high 22 points for the host Anchors while eclipsing the 1,000-point mark for her career while still a junior.
?She?s super fast and was getting to the basket with such ease,” Wechsler said.
Sophomore forward Annmarie Teixeira led the way with six points for the Tigers who got solid contributions from junior point guard Lila Nieves, with five points, and sophomore guard, Jamila Constantine, with four points.BOYS? TRACKMarblehead 63, Salem 23
