The Lynn Tech girls? basketball team desperately wanted to head into the Christmas break on a positive note. On Thursday at the T. O?Connor Field House, coach Kaitlin Wechsler?s team got just that.
Miriamny Jiminez?s free throw with two seconds left was the difference as the Tigers defeated Minuteman, 38-37, to even their record at 1-1.
?This is kind of the turning point we?ve been looking for,” Wechsler said. “I?m glad that it happened early in the season because now we can run with it. It finally shows the girls that all the hard work is paying off.”
It was a back-and-forth game right from the start as neither team had a lead bigger than six points. The Tigers led 22-17 at the half and 30-25 at the end of three quarters before the Mustangs rallied, setting up Jiminez?s game-winning shot.
Jamila Constantine had a game-high 15 points for Tech with point guard Lila Nieves adding 13 for the Tigers.
?The girls were really excited,” Wechsler said. “And it was ironic it came down to Miriamny because she had been so good defensively all game and hadn?t scored.”
The Tigers are back in action a week from today when they take on Classical in the Boverini Tournament.

Revere got points from every member of the team, a feat the Patriots accomplished in their opening victory of the season, as well. Senior Tiphani Harris had 13 points to lead the Patriots. Adanna Hector chipped in 10. “Salem is a tough, aggressive team,” Revere coach Diana DeCristoforo said. “We made defensive adjustments early and (the team) responded well.”
