Arrest made in Marblehead murder

LYNN – Police have arrested and charged a 28-year-old Marblehead man with murder after local police investigated a suspicious death in the seaside town on Sunday.John M. Devine, 28, of Marblehead, was arrested and charged with murder Sunday night in connection with the death of a Marblehead woman, according to Carrie Kimball Monahan, a spokeswoman for Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett’s office.Kimball Monahan did not identify the deceased other than as a Marblehead woman believed to be in her 50s, pending notification of the woman’s family. The deceased was found at a home on Sparhawk Terrace.Lynn Police Lt. Rick Donnelly said that Lynn officers responded to a call from Marblehead Police asking that area police look for a vehicle wanted in connection with a possible homicide that took place in Marblehead sometime around 2 p.m. Sunday.Lynn Police saw the vehicle parked outside a Dunkin’ Donuts at around 3 p.m., and then detained a man who approached the vehicle, according to police. State police detectives responded to the scene and the man, identified as Devine, went voluntarily back to Marblehead with state police detectives. Lynn Police impounded the vehicle.Kimball Monahan said police were not disclosing the manner of death and that Devine’s relationship with the alleged victim was being withheld pending the notification of the woman’s family.
