DANVERS – Care Dimensions, formerly Hospice of the North Shore and Greater Boston, and Regis College have received a $249,000 grant to encourage innovation in the state’s health care industry. The grant is part of the Patrick administration’s efforts to encourage economic growth in the field. The two organizations will work together to develop two training initiatives: a nurse residency program and the creation of online learning modules for clinical staff. Both are aiming to enhance health care staff engagement and retention. The ultimate goal is to enhance patient care.”These grants will help ensure health care providers succeed in implementing new models of service delivery and adapt to new payment structures,” said Rachel Kaprielian, the state’s secretary of labor and workforce development.”Hospice care requires specialized skills and experience that many nurses are not exposed to, which makes it challenging to recruit new staff,” said Diane Stringer, RN, president and CEO of Care Dimensions.”In addition, with staff that operates 24/7 in the field, it’s challenging to deliver ongoing clinical training to support their development.”Care Dimensions is the most comprehensive, most diversified and largest provider of high-quality and compassionate care for adults and children with advanced illness serving over 90 communities in Massachusetts.
