The Lynn/Winthrop/Saugus girls hockey team received contributions from every position on the ice in its impressive 5-0 victory over visiting Medford Saturday afternoon at Winthrop?s Larsen Rink.
Senior captain Caroline MacKinnon (88 career points) inched closer to reaching the century mark, with two goals and assist while Caroline O’Keefe, an eighth grader, dished out four helpers.
Flora English, Olivia Shkliew and Gabby Kenniston added tallies for the Bulldawgs who limited the Mustangs to 14 shots on sophomore netminder, Gretchen Howard.
?We’re getting production up and down the lineup from each grade,” said coach Anthony Martucci whose team is off to a 3-0 start. “Our upperclassmen continue to lead the way for our younger players who continue stepping into larger roles.”
English, a sophomore transfer, opened the scoring midway through the first period before helping set up MacKinnon’s initial strike later in the period.
An unassisted goal from Shkliew, a junior, preceded MacKinnon’s follow up act where she faked a pass on a three-on-one rush, bating both the defenseman and the goaltender before finding her mark.
Junior blue-liner, Gabby Kenniston, closed the scoring in the final frame.
