College Notebook: Iannetti, Butler shining for St. A’s

Lynn?s Sabrina Iannetti and Danvers? Allison Butler, who helped led the Spartans? girls? hockey team to three straight Division 1 state titles, are among the leading scorers for the St. Anselm?s women?s hockey team.
Butler, a sophomore, has three goals and four points in 10 games while Iannetti has a goal and two assists in 10 games. St. A?s is 6-3-1 heading into the semester break.Bertrand shining for Norwich
Last year’s Item Player of the Year, Joe Bertrand, has factored into Norwich University coach Paul Booth’s early season plans in his first year on campus. Bertrand, who starred for Saugus High School and graduated in 2014, has appeared in six of the Cadets’ first seven games, and has been a presence on the boards. In a recent game against the University of Maine ? Augusta, Bertrand lead the Cadets with six boards, helping in a dominant 96-65 victory. Bertrand was coveted by a handful of New England basketball programs, but chose Norwich, and his play has earned him significant minutes. The 6-5 guard and former Sachem will next play on Jan. 3, when Norwich (3-4) hosts Rivier University.Marblehead?s Somerby a defensive force for No. 1 BU
Doyle Somerby, who starred at St. Mary?s before transferring to Kimball Union Academy, has been a major contributor on defense for the No. 1 ranked Terriers. Somerby, a fifth-round draft pick of the New York Islanders this year, has played 15 games on defense for coach David Quinn?s team, recording a goal and three assists.
The Terriers currently lead the Hockey East standings and have been the No. 1-ranked team in the nation for most of this season.Endicott freshman ECAC Rookie of the Week
Endicott’s Sam Charette has started off her rookie season in style, being named as the ECAC rookie of the week in women’s basketball. Charette, originally from Wenham, helped the Gulls go 2-1 early in the season, including key wins over MIT and rival Salem State. Against Salem State, Charette posted an impressive 16 points while also contributing defensively, with a pair of steals and six rebounds. In a losing effort against Eastern Nazarene, Charette bagged 21 points, helping to keep the Gulls competitive.Field hockey milestone for EndicottThe Endicott College Gulls field hockey team not only have their first ECAC Division III All-Star, they have their first three. Emily Sawchuck, a Maine native, was named to the ECAC All-Star first team after the senior capped her career with a dominant offensive season. Leading the Gulls in goals with 21, assists (10), and points (52). Sawchuck was a force for Endicott all season long. Joining her as All-Stars are senior Meghan Leary and junior Ashleigh Allen. Leary was a consistent presence for the Gulls during her four years at the program, starting and contributing in nearly every game, while Allen finished second on the team in all offensive categories behind Sawchuck.
