BOSTON – A jury convicted a man who most recently lived in Salem of participating in a large-scale cocaine trafficking organization throughout Greater Lynn, U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz announced Friday.Jaime Aristy, also known as Junito, 29, of the Dominican Republic, was convicted Thursday of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and distribution of cocaine, following a seven-day trial in U.S. District Court.Aristy was indicted in November 2012 and is scheduled to be sentenced on March 25.Aristy was one of 11 defendants charged with participation in a large-scale cocaine trafficking conspiracy between 2009 and 2012, according to Ortiz’s office. The conspiracy included several members of the same family, including Aristy, who were involved in the distribution of multi-kilogram quantities of cocaine in Lynn, Salem and Peabody. The investigation involved court-authorized wiretaps and seizing cocaine, more than $100,000 cash and drug paraphernalia, police said.Aristy was arrested Sept. 1, 2011 after a motor vehicle stop in Salem where officers found more than $93,000 in cash in a shoebox; two cell phones used by the drug organization; and a drug ledger with entries involving multiple kilograms of cocaine and tens of thousands of dollars, Ortiz reported.
