PEABODY – State police identified the driver who was killed and the passenger who was seriously injured Monday afternoon when a tow truck rolled on Route 95 South.William Choquette, 43, of Peabody, was driving a 1987 GMC flatbed tow truck, which was hauling a car, on Route 95 South at approximately 3:10 p.m. Monday when he lost control of the tow truck, state police said in a press release. Choquette hit two vehicles before the tow truck rolled, and Choquette, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the truck, police said.Responders performed CPR at the scene and took Choquette to Union Hospital in Lynn where he was subsequently pronounced dead, police said.The passenger in the tow truck, 65-year-old David Moise of Peabody, was entrapped. Once freed, Moise was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital with serious injuries.The single occupants of the two other vehicles involved were treated for minor injuries and unharmed, respectively. Police said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
