Revere girls track slips past Classical

It came down to the final event for the Revere and Classical girls? track teams Tuesday at Revere.
The Patriots trailed by three points entering the 4×440 relay and needed a win to take the meet, and thanks to a disqualification, they got the five points that were available and took a 44-42 win.
The Patriots (2-1, 2-0 NEC North) won five individual events to help offset Classical?s (2-1, 1-1) depth. Taking first places for Revere were Sam Myrtil in the shot put (26-10?); Danielle Fortuna, 600 (1:55.5); Nadia Lerari, 1,000 (3:46.2); Hannah Fitzpatrick, mile (6:42.8) and Jaclynne Dion, 2-mile (14:27.4).
Classical got a first and a second in the 50 hurdles from Devyn Astuccio (7.7) and Emma Dejoie (8.3). Jenn Ierardi won the high jump (4-4) and was second in the 1,000 (3:51.6). Teammate Jennifer Gaudet won the 300 (46.5) with Agnes Bangura in second (49.5) while Anna Wargo won the 50-yard dash (6.6). Laurie Rodriguez was second in the 2-mile (15:08.2).
The Classical boys also ran into a buzz saw against Revere as the Patriots rolled to a 64-13 victory. The Patriots (2-1, 2-0) won every event but the 2-mile, which was taken by Classical?s Tom Mackin in 10:56.5.
Taking first places for Revere were Nelson Cevallos, high jump (5-2); Mirza Liskovica, shot put (40-1 ?); Lionel Forbes, 50-yard hurdles (7.3); Dan Murphy, 50-yard dash (5.8); Anthony Berry, 300m (42.1); Bounlaing Chea, 600m (1:36.7); Richie Damiano, 1,000m (3:00.4); Zakaria Attoui, mile (5:26.9).
In other action at Revere Tuesday, the Saugus boys came out of Revere with a win, as the Sachems cruised past Winthrop, 67-19.
The Sachems (1-1, 1-0 NEC South) won seven individual events plus the relay. They swept the top three places in three of those events.
Doing the honors in the high jump were Alex Kotkowski (5-4), Angelo Bellia (5-4) and Guilherme Barbosa (5-2). Kotkowski (6.0) also led a sweep in the 50 hurdles ahead of Walter Wilson (8.7) and Kyle Lennan (8.9).
Saugus? other 1-2-3 finish came in the 50 dash via Alex Schirripa (6.0), John Prentice (6.4) and Angelo Bellia (6.5). Brendan Grocki won the shot put (38-4?) with Barbosa taking the 300 (42.1); Aleksa Samardez, 1,000 (3:18.6) and Mike DeBenedict, mile (5:46.0).
Saugus? girls weren?t as fortunate as Winthrop defeated them, 51-32.The Sachems got first place finishes from Gianna Filaretos in the high jump (5-0); Ailyn Minaya, shot put (31-9 ?) and Amanda Poussard, 300 (50.8).Winthrop?s wins came from Carly O?Keefe in the 50 hurdles (8.1); Holly Benson, 600 (1:53.3); Heidy Benson, 1,000 (3:33.9); Abigail Love, mile (6:42.3) and Kristen Ford, 2-mile (14:30.6).
