LoRusso Fund donation a home run in SaugusThe Joey LoRusso Memorial Fund of Saugus made a donation to the new softball field that is being built at Belmonte Middle School. This fund is named after a Saugus teenager who died in an accident caused by a drunken driver in 2002. The fund was set up to help create better lives for young people.The construction of the field started Dec. 22 and it is hoped that it will be ready for play for the 2015 softball season. The field will be the home field for Saugus Softball Little League.Anyone interested in donating to the project can make checks payable to Saugus Softball Little League and send to Saugus Softball, P.O. Box 903, Saugus, MA 01906.On New Year’s Eve in Salem, 7 p.m. is the new midnightThe City of Salem and Salem Main Streets are teaming up to throw a New Year’s Eve party on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at Old Town Hall. Entertainment will be provided by the Dejas, the OnPoint Ensemble, the Boondock Sinners and more. There will also be activities and crafts for kids of all ages. There will be an early countdown and balloon drop promptly at 7 p.m. This family-friendly event is free.
