School: LNR wrestlers three-peat at Pentucket Tournament

The Lynnfield-North Reading wrestling team once again dominated the Pentucket Tournament Saturday as the Pioneers placed 10 of 13 wrestlers to easily beat second place Exeter (N.H.) High School.
It is the third year in a row that the combine has taken first place in West Newbury.
The team had three wrestlers win in their divisions. Max Whyman won at 126 pounds to take his first tournament championship. Zack Monzione, a junior, made his first tournament memorable by winning at 160; while Brandon Troisi dominated the heavyweight (285) category by pinning all three of his opponents.
The blue-and-gold also had four wrestlers ? Joe Morse (113), Jake Mullin-Bernstein (132), Lucas Pascucci (138) and Dom Monzione (145) ? take second places to rack up big points. Also placing was Kai Jean-Simon in fifth at 120 pounds; Nick Reardon, fifth at 152 and Nick Wilkinson, fifth at 195 pounds.
The combine had seven new wrestlers in its lineup from the team that won the title the last two seasons.

Peabody and Beverly stole the show, swapping a firsts and seconds at Gloucester.
In boys action, the Tanners finished with a top total of 71 points, led by first-place showings from Ramon Medrano in the high jump (5-4) and Nicholas McLaughlin in the shot put (41-2).
Kai Marcos (40.4) and Brian McPherson (2:55.1) earned victories for the Panthers in the 300 and 1000-meter dashes respectively. Marblehead (47) placed third, led by wins from Jason Lopez in the 55m (6.8) and Oliver Jacob in the 600m (1:37.2).
Swampcott’s Oliver Daniels-Koch won the2-mile with a 11:12.2 while English’s Kevin Francisco finished second in the 300m (41.7).
In girls action, Beverly accumulated 67.5 points to fend off Peabody, which finished with 64.
Abby Walsh (11:41.3) took first in the two-mile for the Panthers who got a win from Gracie Sparkman with the shot put (30-10). Dayna Vadala gave the Tanners a victory in the 300m, running a 47.4.
Mablehead finished third with 47 points, helped along by Eve Rice, who won the 600m with a 154.6 while Classical had a pair of victors in Michelle Scuzzarella (8.0) and Devyn Astucio (9.3) who won the 55m and 55m-hurdles respectively.Gianna Filaretos (Saugus) won the high jump with a top leap of five feet.
