LYNN – The African-American Leadership Council (AALC) will convene a meeting with the Lynn Police Department and concerned residents to discuss the important steps necessary to develop improved and continued communications between the community and local law enforcement.The meeting will be held on Monday at 7 p.m. at the Lynn Bethlehem Pentecostal Church, 21 Light St.”Most will agree, there is no outright visible tension between the vast Lynn community and our Lynn Police Department, as we have recently witnessed in other cities all across the nation,” said Pamela Burton, AALC member. “However, there is always room for improvement.”The event will include a forum discussion with Lynn Police Chief Kevin Coppinger, members of the local clergy, city government representatives and community activist leaders of the AALC.The agenda will focus on topics such as resident civil rights, police lethal/excessive force, resisting arrest, wrongful death, the grand-jury process and other legal matters.”All are welcomed to participate,” said Damon Harrison, AALC member. “Justice should never be defined by race, and it will only be achieved through equality, compromise and common sense.”
