North Shore presence strong at Baker inaugurationLynn-area residents’ faces were not hard to spot amidst the crowds flooding State House corridors and packing public areas Thursday for Charlie Baker’s inauguration.State Sen. Thomas M. McGee paraded with the honorary committee ceremoniously charged to inform Baker and Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito that legislators were ready to welcome them into the Massachusetts House chamber for the swearing-in ceremony.Speaking of Polito – early Polito supporter and Revere Police Department veteran James Guido sat in the chamber listening to her speech, and Revere Mayor Dan Rizzo also attended.Marblehead received prominent representation during the ceremony with Rev. Dennis Calhoun, Old North Congregational Church (mispelled “Congressional Church” in the inaugural program), offering an invocation, on Baker’s behalf, to “grant the moral clarity and good judgment to govern well.”Republican luminaries attended as well, including New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former Massachusetts Gov. William Weld, who called Baker’s speech “powerful,” and former U.S. Sen. Scott Brown, who said Baker’s speech “was just perfect.”Baker launched his speech with a thank you to his wife, Lauren, who blew him a kiss after he praised her sense of humor. Baker took the oath of office with his left hand placed on the Bible his father, Charles Sr., used when he was sworn in 46 years ago as an assistant to former U.S. Transportation Secretary John Volpe.
